The Martial Arts Center (TMAC) is proud to have been recognized as the City of Tucker’s Business of the Month for June 2025, as featured in inTucker Magazine. This recognition celebrates the dojo’s commitment to martial arts education, character development, and the local community it proudly serves.
Led by Shihan Mike Hernandez, The Martial Arts Center offers traditional Okinawan Karate and Japanese Jujitsu instruction for children, teens, and adults. Since relocating to Tucker in 2018, TMAC has continued to provide a welcoming environment where students can improve their physical fitness, develop practical self-defense skills, and build confidence, discipline, and respect.
A Lifelong Dedication to Martial Arts
For Shihan Hernandez, martial arts is much more than a profession. His journey began at just five years old, when he started training under his father’s guidance in Miami, Florida. With decades of experience and a seventh-degree black belt, he has dedicated his career to sharing the traditions and benefits of martial arts with students of all ages.
In 2000, Hernandez began operating his own dojo in the Atlanta area before eventually finding a permanent home in Tucker. His approach to teaching emphasizes not only the physical techniques of Karate and Jujitsu, but also the personal growth that comes through consistent training, perseverance, and self-discipline.
More Than Just Karate Classes
The Martial Arts Center offers a variety of programs designed to meet the needs of students and families throughout the Tucker community. Children’s Karate classes help younger students develop coordination, focus, confidence, and respect, while adult Karate and Jujitsu programs provide opportunities to improve fitness, learn self-defense, and challenge themselves both physically and mentally.
Beyond regular classes, TMAC brings families together through special events, Karate Summer Camps, and memorable children’s birthday parties. These activities give students opportunities to build friendships, enjoy new experiences, and become part of a supportive martial arts community.
Proud to Be Part of the Tucker Community
The Business of the Month recognition reflects the relationships The Martial Arts Center has developed with local families over the years. For Shihan Hernandez, one of the greatest rewards of teaching is watching students grow in confidence, develop new skills, and accomplish goals they once thought were out of reach.
TMAC is grateful to the City of Tucker, its students, and the families who continue to support the dojo. The school looks forward to helping future generations discover the lifelong benefits of martial arts training.
